Thinking on Thoughts
| To contemplate on the mind is to observe the observer. I admit at times I get quite bewildered when observing the mind, as it naively wants to produce a separation, as though it is not the object of observation, but just the observer. Thoughts are based on knowledge. Knowledge is composed of memories. Memories, of course, are limited and accumulative. The mind holds these memories. The mind creates these thoughts. The mind separates you and me. The mind creates these images and dreams and preferences, all based on knowledge, experience. All limited, as they are grounded in our narrow perceptions. Thoughts are time. The two are the same. You cannot have thoughts without time. Thought is past and future in present. The observer is the observed. The perceiver is the perceived. Watch the mind with the mind. They come from the same origin. There is no separation between the person who is aware and the object of that awareness. |
