Etsy

An online marketplace for selling and buying all things handmade!

It's like shopping at the artists market, but from your own home. I discovered the website just in time for Christmas and along with my trip to Blue Banana Market in Toronto, have managed to get almost everyone on my list home made gifts.

Every morning, when we wake up, we have twenty-four brand-new hours to live. What a precious gift! We have the capacity to live in a way that these twenty-four hours will bring peace, joy, and happiness to ourselves and others.

Peace is present right here and now, in ourselves and in everything we do and see. The Question is whether or not we are in touch with it. We don't have to travel far away to enjoy the blue sky. We don't have to leave our city or even our neighborhood to enjoy the eyes of a beautiful child. Even the air we breathe can be a source of joy.

We can smile, breathe, walk, and eat our meals in a way that allows us to be in touch with the abundance of happiness that is available. We are very good at preparing to live, but not very good at living. We know how to sacrifice ten years for a diploma, and we are willing to work very hard to get a job, a car, a house, and so on. But we have difficulty remembering that we are alive at the present moment, the only moment there is for us to be alive.

Every breath we take, every step we make, can be filled with peace, joy, and serenity. We need only to be awake, alive in the present moment. ... Thich Nhat Hanh

I think the key is pleasure with non attachment. If somebody took the object or source of pleasure away from you tommorow or said that you could never do it again, would you be upset. Thats where the fear and aggresion comes from.. from the need to control and not letting go.

What would pleasure be, had it not a name? It just would simply be, wouldn't it? Pleasure is created in the mind, it is based on the experience of past. It is a sensation.

In order to be-come non attached (in our natural state) to the creations of the mind we must dig deep to the root of it all. We can not become detached from this yet struggle with detachment from that. When we experience the life-force of attachment it completely disintegrates, as we've come to the root of understanding. Much as I wrote about fear .. we can cut away at the branches of the tree of fear but the root still remains.

I take with me this wise thought, Steve, as it relates to my day, today. It has been a sad day for me, but also a day of rejoicing. A day to experience within the experience total and complete surrender to the Universe. To acknowledge and observe such sadness but be free from any attachments to the object of this sadness. It was never mine to begin with, so I haven't lost anything. Yet I was blessed with this wonderful, nurturing gift and for that I smile the grandest smile I ever did smile.

Thank you Cyber-Steve for sharing with me your thoughts. I enjoyed sharing them with you :-)

hi Kelly,

Glad you got something out of it. I can see from reading your blog that emotionaly you have been through a lot on your path (as everyone does). I like how you related this to also experiencing sadness with non attachment.

The roots of both of these will always keep growing back (living in modern society will see to that, constantly being bombarded with messages of "fear this" or "desire this")

Remember, you dont have to be a superwoman who never experiences fear, or feels bad for experiencing pleasure.

All the Universe demands of you is that you be, and thats all you can ask of it.

" But where does pleasure emanate from? And, can it be taken away?"

In the cavaties of the mind, it is yours and yours alone BW :-)
