Etsy

An online marketplace for selling and buying all things handmade!

It's like shopping at the artists market, but from your own home. I discovered the website just in time for Christmas and along with my trip to Blue Banana Market in Toronto, have managed to get almost everyone on my list home made gifts.

Every morning, when we wake up, we have twenty-four brand-new hours to live. What a precious gift! We have the capacity to live in a way that these twenty-four hours will bring peace, joy, and happiness to ourselves and others.

Peace is present right here and now, in ourselves and in everything we do and see. The Question is whether or not we are in touch with it. We don't have to travel far away to enjoy the blue sky. We don't have to leave our city or even our neighborhood to enjoy the eyes of a beautiful child. Even the air we breathe can be a source of joy.

We can smile, breathe, walk, and eat our meals in a way that allows us to be in touch with the abundance of happiness that is available. We are very good at preparing to live, but not very good at living. We know how to sacrifice ten years for a diploma, and we are willing to work very hard to get a job, a car, a house, and so on. But we have difficulty remembering that we are alive at the present moment, the only moment there is for us to be alive.

Every breath we take, every step we make, can be filled with peace, joy, and serenity. We need only to be awake, alive in the present moment. ... Thich Nhat Hanh

Bye Bye Lady

I don't think I've mentioned yet the dog Megan and I found back in March. She was wandering on the street with her lease attached to her. She's been with us for just over 3 months now and we haven't had any luck in locating her owners, despite our vigilant attempts. She's an old girl, probably around 8-10 yrs of age, but soo full of life! Being a standard poodle she's especially smart, though it seemed the previous owners didn't use this to their advantage in training her. In the few months we've had her I've managed to teach her a few new things. She's been a wonderful addition to the zoo I've already got going. Lady is especially found of Megan. She follows her everywhere.

Sunday night something unexpected happened with Lady. It started off slowly with a bit of disorientation and some co-ordination issues. I suspected at that time she was either depressed (as Megan was away for the weekend) or an ear infection. As the day passed the symptoms became more serious and when she fell into a non-responsive state I called up a friend and we took her down to the animal emergency clinic.

Though the vet wasn't sure what was going on, she suspected a ruptured tumour on the heart. The dog seemed to be in a state of unconsciousness and remained unresponsive to touch and sound. Her body layed lifelessly, though her heart was still beating. The vet felt it in the best interest of all to have her put to rest. With my head resting against hers I kissed Lady as she breathed her last breathe. A heart-rending moment indeed. I hope we brought as much joy and happiness into her life as she did into ours.

Bye Bye Lady.

Hi Kelly,

I believe she chose very wisely to have ended up with you both and how fortunate you three were to share and reflect that love amongst you.

Take care,
Anne

Thank you all for your warm thoughts :) I truly appreciate the kind words.

Anne, yes I agree myself. She certainly found her way to us for a reason (or a season).
